Banner Welcome

McMinnville Cooperative Ministries is a joint ministry of McMinnville United Methodist Church and Trinity Lutheran Church of McMinnville.

We are a welcoming Christian community, united in our desire to work with all people to restore all of creation to God’s loving embrace.

In Christ’s family there can be no division into Jew and non-Jew, slave and free, male and female. Among us you are all equal. That is, we are all in a common relationship with Jesus Christ.

Galatians 3:28, The Message

The Coop is a spiritual community, seeking to make the world better one day, one person at a time

Together

We – Trinity Lutheran Church and the McMinnville United Methodist Church – share virtually everything: staff, buildings, property, ministries, worship, community, and so on. We’re not actually a merger, because we value and retain our historic ties to our denominations. We have Methodists, Lutherans, and a lot of other people who identify themselves in another way (or don’t care what they’re called) together in worship each week.

McMinnville United Methodist Church and Trinity Lutheran Church of McMinnville came together to form their vision of a new and welcoming community of people. A place for those who felt displaced, wronged or un-included in religious groups before. Those seeking a community of loving people who work to help those around them. McMinnville Cooperative Ministries is a union, a marriage of two hearts with a unique and beautiful vision of worship.

Children & Youth

Your children are welcome here! We love the sound and energy of children, and their presence will not be disruptive to us. Our goal is to integrate our children and youth into our worship services on Sundays. You will find an activity table for little ones, as well as coloring pages and a kids’ sermon notes page available if your children would like to sit with you while staying busy.

We have teamed up with other local churches to offer an excellent youth group experience on Sunday nights for our Jr. High and High School aged youth. You can find out more about the team and all of the activities at the McMinnville Youth Collective Facebook page.

A Reconciling In Christ Congregation

As a Reconciling In Christ (RIC) congregation, we wish to make known our caring and concern for our brothers and sisters in Christ, regardless of their sexual or gender identity. It is for this purpose that we affirm the following:

  • that people of all sexual orientations and gender identities share the worth that comes from being unique individuals created by God;
  • that people of all sexual orientations and gender identities are welcome within the membership of this congregation upon making a common, public Affirmation of faith;
  •  and that as members of this congregation, people of all sexual orientations and gender identities are expected and encouraged to share in the sacramental and general life of this congregation.

Mission & Vision

Mission

Inspired by Christ, our mission is to love and serve with all people in restoring all of creation to God’s loving embrace.

We are inspired by Christ, which means:

  • that we believe that Christianity is about community and relationships;
  • we see the Christian faith as a way of life more than a set of abstract doctrines or intellectual beliefs;
  • together, we learn how to live, to pray, to think, to worship, to work, and to serve like Jesus – but in our place and time.

When we say that we love and serve with all people, we:

  • affirm our connectedness to people everywhere who are striving to be a blessing to their neighbors, the world and to those within our own community;
  • are an open and affirming community, welcoming all people as part of God’s creation.

We are engaged in restoring all of creation to God’s loving embrace, which means that we act to regenerate, renew and sustain:

  • human communities;
  • the environment;
  • and ourselves for the sake of the world God created.

Vision

As an engaged Christian community firmly rooted in the heart of McMinnville, our vision is to put our faith into action and build relationships by:

LISTENING TO EACH OTHER AND THOSE IN OUR COMMUNITIES

Our key aspirations in this area of ministry are to:

  • lead our local community in openness to change by employing intentional listening activities;
  • develop and participate in small groups that focus on deepening relationships;
  • expand our ministries to elderly and shut-ins with an emphasis on inter-generational communication;
  • offer unique worship experiences grounded in our theological traditions but welcoming for people of all faith backgrounds.

STRIVING TO ELIMINATE HOMELESSNESS AND FOOD INSECURITY

Our key aspirations in this area of ministry are to:

  • Be a leader in the efforts to address homelessness locally.
  • Reduce food insecurity in specific domestic and global communities.
  • Create temporary shelters in specific local and global communities.
  • Assist specific populations in meeting the basic needs of daily activity.

FOSTERING LEARNING AND THE ARTS

Our key aspirations in this area of ministry are to:

  • Focus our energies on fostering inter-generational learning experiences.
  • Sponsor and participate in music and the creative arts.
  • Integrate life-long learning into our way of living the Christian experience.
  • Educate ourselves and others about how to live sustainably.

“Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.”
